Charlbury is a beautiful, thriving small Cotswold town situated in the glorious Evenlode Valley. Although some of its inhabitants commute to Oxford and London, it is in no sense a dormitory town. Known for its festivals, events, pubs and sense of community, Charlbury is alive with a range of local activities as well as being one step away from peaceful country walks.

Open Spaces

Charlbury lies beneath the ancient forest of Wychwood in the heart of the Cotswolds, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are a myriad of walks and cycle routes for those wanting to explore the countryside on the doorstep and further afield, as well as stunning views across the valley from the town itself. The historic Cornbury Park lies on the edge of Charlbury, which again offers beautiful walks and fly fishing at the beguiling trout lake. It also hosts the renowned music festival, ‘Wilderness’.


The Brunel station at Charlbury is renowned not only for its beautiful garden, which has featured on the BBC’s Gardeners’ World, but also for its fast service to London, with trains going hourly either east to the capital or north to Worcester and Great Malvern. The train service to Oxford is also used as an alternative to the school bus system, for those children studying at Oxford schools. Travelling by road is also very good to and from Charlbury, with easy access to the M40.


There is a wide range of facilities in Charlbury, including a thriving primary school, active churches, a library, medical, veterinary and dental practices and a good mix of shops, including a small supermarket.
